CanSurvive organises training for people who would like to act as buddies to cancer patients. A buddy can interact with and give advice and support to cancer patients and where possible we connect them to patients who have a similar profile, disease and treatment protocol.
Our buddies are all cancer survivors who have undergone basic training to assist them in supporting patients and their caregivers. Buddies do not provide medical support – this is the role of your doctor, specialist or clinic. Buddies someone to talk to;
- To discuss your concerns and answer the questions you may have;
- To assist you in finding your own way forward;
- To point you to other services which may be available.
Buddy support can be provided via telephone, by one-on-one meetings, or even via email or Skype, depending on your needs.
